Are you also tired of investors who say they invest in "disruptive technologies", but actually mean they only invest in SaaS and App companies?
We know it's difficult to get funded as a hardtech company. We know you usually get turned away in the door by the software-loving VC community.
In fact, very few investors actually understand hardtech and invest in such companies. We’ve listed the Nordic investors who get it.
The criteria are as follows:
- Nordic presence through an office or active investment focus
- At least one active or past investment defined as hardtech
- All investment stages are relevant
How do we define hardtech? Technologies that are innovative, complex and physical. This mainly refers to companies developing their own technologies, products or solutions.
What is not hardtech? Pure-SaaS, pure-apps, generic AI frontends, ecommerce, marketplaces, fintech, foodtech, etc. We also don't classify life science in our hardtech scope.
What should you consider while looking for hardtech investors?
- Do they actually invest in hardtech companies, or just say they do?
- Do they understand the technology field you are working in?
- Do they understand that your technology will likely take time/capital to commercialize? (i.e. are they in it for the long run?)
- Do they invest in the current stage you are in? (pre-seed, seed, etc)
- Can they provide something rather than just dumb-money?
